Updated DRC Camp Coordination and Camp Management Sector Summary 2024

According to the 2024 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan, an estimated 9 million individuals in South Sudan will require humanitarian assistance. This includes a staggering number of over 2.2 million Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The situation is compounded by the ongoing conflict in Sudan, which began in Aprill 2023. As a result of this crisis, there has been a significant influx of returnees and refugees into South Sudan, exacerbating the already dire circumstances. The persistent occurrence of natural disasters, conflicts, and instability in both South Sudan and its neighboring country, Sudan, has led to a substantial displacement of civilians. Many people have been forced to flee their homes and seek refuge at transit centers, Protection of Civilian sites (PoCs), and IDP sites as a result the urgent need for CCCM interventions is evident throughout the country.
