Youth empowerment

Youth digital employment opportunities in Türkiye

DRC is raising awareness of tech-related opportunities and providing career counselling to unemployed or under-employed displacement-affected youth in Türkiye. The goal is to give young people the skills, knowledge, and confidence to obtain income-generating opportunities in the tech sector.

The promise of digital work

The promise of digital work

Young women face additional barriers in Türkiye, needing to balance work with the domestic responsibilities expected of them from their communities. Technological developments and the shift to virtual work brought about by the pandemic have made it possible to work from anywhere. The virtual nature of digital work means it is promising for refugees who are on the move or face obstacles to finding work in a new country (such as the language barrier or an inability to obtain work permits), and is especially promising for women, as it enables them to work from home and balance domestic commitments.

Supporting entrepreneurs

Supporting entrepreneurs

DRC will link young people with employers in the tech sector and provide start-up funds to entrepreneurs looking to start digital businesses. This will in turn support emerging job sectors or improve existing business models for displacement-affected youth.

The project aims to enhance economic empowerment and improve the well-being and future life chances of Syrian and other displacement-affected youth in Turkey, thus improving their current and future life chances.
